I have been visiting the Houston Zoo since I was a baby. My mother, Brenda, was only 20 in the 1977 photo and I am the baby in the lion fountain. I remember visiting the zoo many times later as a kid. In 2015, I became a Houston Zoo volunteer and primate keeper aide. I enjoy working with the keepers and seeing the animals up close and getting to know them. When my mother retired, I convinced her to also volunteer at the zoo, and she loves it so much. She calls it her happy place. We volunteer together every chance we can, and look forward to continuing to visit the Houston Zoo for years to come.
