35 Years at the zoo

I’m not sure how pleasant of a memory it is, but my brother and I have been laughing about it for over 30 years now and it will never not be etched into our brains. As kids in the 80’s, we LOVED the hippos. They’re just so cool! How can you not?! One day, we were inside the round domed building that their pool was in. We were oooing and ahhhing when all of a sudden the hippo’s cute little tail stuck straight up out of the water and the hippo shot green leafy poo into the water. We squealed and screamed and ran shouting “diarrhea!!!” TO THIS DAY several times a year one of us will randomly text the other and just say “hippo diarrhea” and we both erupt into laughter. None of our combined 8 kids thinks we’re funny which makes us laugh harder. Something very natural from one of the coolest animals ever has become a cornerstone of bonding from our childhood.

If anyone sends anything to the Houston Zoo or platforms such Communications, you are providing it to the Houston Zoo on a NON-CONFIDENTIAL BASIS, and the Houston Zoo will not have any obligation to keep such information secret, to refrain from using such information, or to compensate you for the receipt or use of such Communications. The Houston Zoo are free to use such Communications for any purpose whatsoever.
