Mother’s Day 1998. I was at the Zoo with my daughter. I saw a small boy run into the petting zoo area & knew it was a boy I had seen the night before with his dad at a restaurant on the OTHER side of town. As I turned I literally ran into the dad. We talked for a few minutes about seeing each other the night before. We went to see the new baby orangutan, Luna. We walked around the Zoo together and I needed to leave. We were by the giraffes and as he shook my hand and said “It was nice to meet you. When are you going to marry me?” Of course I laughed. We began dating and he proposed to me in front of the giraffes a few months later. We got married at the Zoo a year later. We went to the Zoo every Mother’s Day after that.
