As a native Houstonian, I have been going to Zoo my whole life. We didn’t go a lot, but because it was free – we did get to go!

I loved the tv segments on Cadet Don (I think) with John Worler from the Zoo. It really engendered my love of animals and their diversity. It was a broadening experience for a little girl who didn’t get to travel to exotic places to see the great variety of animals living along with us.

After college, I would take a day off to accompany my friend and her school class on their Zoo trip. Those kids loved their trips.

I tried to bring my 3 sons to our wonderful zoo and now I am able to bring 2 grandchildren. My granddaughter seems to have the same love of animals that I did (and do). It’s so fun to bring her.
